1:12 Tiered Dessert Trays

I had ordered a couple of these trays online and when I received them, I knew I could easily make my own. It worked wonderfully. Now I can make dessert trays in all shapes and sizes. :D

Thanks! Yeah, the glass ones are really pretty. I'm too afraid of working with molten glass to even think of giving them a try. >.<

Oh wow, well done - they're perfect!

Have you ever thought to use a matchstick or paperclip or something universal as a size reference?  I'm an English-born Australian and have no clue what size that coin is.  I'd love to be able to get the full picture :eager:

Thank you! If I had a matchstick, I'd use it. We don't really keep them here (because I'm afraid of them lol). I'll see if I can get one from my parents and use it from now on. :)

I know what you mean.  I'm afraid of striking matches in case they snap while they're on fire.  That would be so awesome if you could have a safe one for showing size though :eager:  Or a paperclip, or anything universal I guess :tighthug:

...and now I have something else to worry about. lol D: I just dislike the noise they make before they light. It's just all too suspenseful. XD

Nicely done. They are not as easy to make as might be assumed.

Thank you! These are really, really easy to make if you've got the technique down for getting the plates molded correctly. You could even do it with the plate tutorial `Talty made. Just hold it together with an eye pin.  It's worth a try. :)

I thought about pendants with them, but they're still really fragile so I'd worry about people breaking them and then complaining that it's my fault when they do. lol

Thank you. :) I might try one and see how it works. I'll see if I can reinforce the plates.

I don't think there'd be a way to hide the mesh. I was thinking about maybe bulking some raw clay around the bottoms and then baking it in to hold it better.

Thank you! I really like how the square one came out as well.

The plates are clay coated with acrylic paint and then glaze. They're just superglued in place. The glue dries fast enough that they stick almost instantly.
