1:12 S'mores Snowmnen by Bon-AppetEats 1:12 S'mores Snowmnen by Bon-AppetEats
I know you're all probably sick of miniature Christmas stuff by now, but hey - at least these aren't cookies! They're little marshmallow snowmen with candy scarves sitting on top of a chocolate covered graham cracker.

The real size ones of these came across my tumblr the other day and I knew I wanted to make them. They are really tiny - less than 1/4 of an inch in height.

At one point I had to stop working on them since my hands were shaking too much. I was worried I'd ruin them (especially when it came time to put on the little eyes).

These will be up in my Etsy shop and in my Weebly shop tonight.

Oh i'll never get sick of miniature christmas stuff lol.

And I managed to find those "cookie cutters" you were talking about in the button/holiday area. Thanks for that btw. I got some clay to start too...but they didn't have like a ton of colors so I can't really make much right now. I think i'll hold out for Joann's weekend sale and get the rest of the colors i'm missing.

Now where do you think the chalk pastels are kept in Joann's...and what brand do you use? Your baked goods always look so damn realistic...I want to try and make my minitures look almost as good lol.

I'm trying to branch out from cookies a bit, even though those and the candies seem to sell the best. Might make some cakes next. :)

I'm glad you found them! I paid $12 or so for 4 of them, and then facepalmed when I found them there for a lot less. >.> Sometimes JoAnn's has the clay for $1 or so. As long as you have white, ecru, brown, and translucent, you can make baked goods easily. :) If you want to make colored frosting, just mix the white clay with TLS and add some chalk pastel to it. It'll tint it nicely.

I randomly found my pack in the kids crafting area. I don't know if that's where they're supposed to be though since there was only 1 pack thrown in there.

Oh yeah...forgot to pick up tls lol, thanks for reminding me.

Yeah Michael's was sold out on their white, tans and browns but I did get a translucent...the last one lol. Lucky me :P

And just to be sure when we say chalk pastels we mean the stuff you draw with right? Or is it something else...I think I have a set somewhere if its the drawing kind. Needed it for an art class I took in high school.

It's the drawing kind. :) Doesn't have to be expensive either. Any kind works.

Ah goodie. Then I have some. So what you do it grind it into a powder and then brush it on right? That's what I'v heard.

You can just scrape a little off with a razor blade. I do that when I want to mix colors. Otherwise I just rub the paint brush over the chalk and apply it to the piece like that. :)

It is. It's been overcast all day and I had to play with the image a lot before you could see anything decently. :/ I'll be redoing it tomorrow morning when the light is at its best.
