1:12 Ombre Ruffle Cakes by Bon-AppetEats 1:12 Ombre Ruffle Cakes by Bon-AppetEats
1:12 Ombre ruffle cakes, made from polymer clay.

I've been wanting to make an ombre cake for a while now, and then I came across how to make a (real) ombre ruffle cake on youtube and decided that was what I was going to make.

Really liking the purple and teal ones. Next step will be to make one with a slice taken out of it.

Thank you! I have no idea how you work with real cakes like this. I've played with fondant once and that was enough for me. >.<

But.. But.. :c

No lie, I came here thinking oh my god these look delicious, especially the chocolate one. Very confused, mind blown (and, stomach wise, disappointed XD) that these are made of clay!!

Jokes aside (they really do look scrumptious though!) these are amazing! They look exactly like real food! Great job, as with all your other works~

Damnit I'm hungry now. Shows how good they are~

What is a ruffle cake? I've never heard of or seen them before.

It's a regular cake, the ruffle part is just from the decoration. If you google them there are a ton that come up. :)

I think the ruffles on a real one are made with frosting?  Anyway, they look yummy!

Thanks! The ones that these are modeled after are made with fondant. I thought they were frosting, too, until I saw how they were made.

Is it like a normal cake but with ruffled sides or something special in the cake...?

It's a normal cake on the inside. The ruffle part comes from the ruffles on the outside. :)
