1:12 Cornbread Inside a Cast Iron Skillet by Bon-AppetEats 1:12 Cornbread Inside a Cast Iron Skillet by Bon-AppetEats
1:12 Dollhouse scale cornbread in a cast iron skillet.

I bought a few real metal skillets before the show that I wanted to fill with different foods. The pans came unfinished, so I had to wash, prime, paint, and seal them, as well as the little spatula. This one has some freshly made cornbread in it. :)

is there a way you decide that it's actually 1:12 size or is it just an approximation?

The pan I bought for these is 1:12 scale, so it wasn't hard to work out the size of the food from it. Usually I use a couple of scale reference sheets to make sure everything is the correct size. :)

I have never seen or eaten cornbread in my life so I have to assume that what you made is a perfect rendition of this dish. Lovely work on the browning. You will have to share your secret one day.

I shall try to make some for myself. I am originally from Africa where what you call corn was a staple for most of the population. We used to call it Mealie Meal. Even there I never saw it prepared like that.

Very interesting. :) I've never had it made in a cast iron skillet myself. I believe it's a southern way of doing it in the US. The only cornbread I've ever had has come from a box and been cooked in cake pans. :P

Thank you! The skillet has a tiny hole in the handle that would easily fit a jump ring. :)
