1:12 Assorted Old Fashioned Christmas Hard Candies by Bon-AppetEats 1:12 Assorted Old Fashioned Christmas Hard Candies by Bon-AppetEats
This was what I was doing pretty much all weekend: making mini hard candies.

So. Many. Canes. ._.

I'll be using these in a few upcoming projects, so I wanted to make sure I was stocked up. c: I'll also be posting these on my Etsy and Weebly shops for anyone who is looking for old fashioned hard Christmas candies.

So tiny and perfect looking ^w^ How in the world do you make the ribbon candy? I've seen the peppermint canes and such made but never ribbon candy. Is it the same concept but rolled flat? :)

I've made an orange one, a banana one, two strawberry ones (those are the absolute worst), sushi, lemon, tomato, and a lime one. I hated every single minute of it. The sad thing is that I need to make more of them. D:

Thank you! I've only seen some which my grandmother kept out year round. I only tried them once though - they must have been at least a few years old at that point. :P lol

The caning part isn't too bad. What awful is cutting and shaping all the little pieces. :P

Do you have to use teeny little forceps/tweezers and a magnifying glass to do all of this? The way I'm imagining it being done in my head seems so intense! Lol

No tweezers for these. :) When I put them on the gingerbread houses, I use tweezers/a needle tool then. I really should get a magnifying glass - it'd probably keep me from hunching over in order to have my face an inch away to see what I'm doing. lol

Wow, you must have really good motor control to handle such tiny things! And yeah, I've seen cool adjustable magnifying glasses on arms w/ lights on them that might come in handy for you. I kinda want one for myself! :)
